Like any other evening, I am always in a hurry to prepare dinner. I have 2 pre-schoolers, hungry and tired. Then it the midst of the chaos I received an sms from the kids' school admin that reads:
"MOE (Ministry of Education) has advised the school to close from 12May to break the transmission of HFMD (Hand Foot Mouth Disease). School will resume on 23June."
So what does that mean for me?
I have to spend few hours on every Sunday planning some activities for them. Just like back in those days when I was homeschooling Putri. I have to put aside a couple of hours for learning every day and many hours of playtime. hahahaaha.
Ever since they have been in school and loving every minute of it, they have been getting really restless at home especially these last few weeks. And me keeping them away from the pool and playground didnt help either.
Well I cannot help it. I cannot risk their health when the outbreak of HFMD is still on the high side. A little information about the disease.

Hand, Foot & Mouth Disease (HFMD) is caused by the Coxsackie virus and Enterovirus 71. The throat and tonsils develop small ulcers while the hands, feet, and diaper area are affected by a rash with characteristic vesicles (very small blisters). This is usually a mild illness with the rash healing in 5 to 7 days.
HFMD is spread from person to person by direct contact with the nasal discharge, saliva, faeces and fluid from the rash of an infected person. Both adults and children can be affected, but young children below five years are particularly susceptible.

I have been following quite closely on HFMD here in Singapore. The latest news said that many new cases reported after the weekend break. So I cant help but to think there are some kids who already have early signs of the disease are out and about during the weekend. So thats the reason why I am keeping them at home.
We sure do miss the pool and be out and about again. But I am sure I can get them to be occupied around the clock. Planning to get them do a simple hand painting. The wall need some painting. They look dull and lifeless. Hahaha
So the kids will have extra 2 weeks of summer break. It will be a crazy weeks ahead!!!
