OUTRAGEOUS! How dare him!
An engineer was sentenced to three weeks in jail for clubbing his Filipino maid with a rolling pin, news reports said Tuesday. Xing Likun, 36, pleaded guilty to hitting Irene Israel Miguel, 31, on her calf and back. He also kicked her in the knee, The Straits Times said.

The 'mistake' that the maid did, did not deserve a punishment like that. And what make me more angry is the fact that the engineer was given only 3 weeks jail term. I think a few strokes of the cane is what he deserved or maybe few weeks of public service.
I am truly anger with what I read. This is not the first time I read this here in Singapore. Last month there were 2 cases of maid abuses. Dear Lord, what is wrong with these human. The shocking part of all... these maids were abuse by women. Yup! WOMEN!! Here are the links if you be interested to read about it.

Please if you have a maid, understand one thing. She is a helper not a SLAVE!! A person who is miles away from her family coming here to earn money. Imagine having to leave behind her family and some sad cases her children.
Please don't lay your hands on her or even express hurtful words to them because she feels pain and has a heart too.
Please respect her because she is a woman.
Please spare her a smile because it will warm up her heart.
Please care just a little and ask how she is doing because it will make her feel she does matter.
Please don't vent your bad day or anger on the maid because she is not the problem.
Please help her to help you by showing your appreciation each time she did a good job.
I can only pray for all the maids who are so far away from family. I always make a point to smile at every maid that I come across. So many of them have sadness and loneliness in their eyes. It must be really difficult for these maids. I pray that they have good employer who cares for them.

Yeah ur right sis. They are in fact heroes of our country Philippines because they send in much dollar and help our economy.
I wish I can do something to make things better for them.
I was suggesting in Buzzfuse, how coutries, agents and people responsible n bringing these ladies to provide self defense course and make sure it is stated in the ladies script or profile. Some ignorant people need to be reminded that these ladies are no less a human just because they are maids.
this guy is terrible and so as the other maid abusers. 3 weeks is not enough in my opinion,they should beat him up too. this is really sad for all the maids that come here and try to earn a bit more for their families back home.I don't understand how can this people be so cruel!
